Silk reacts to perspiration, perfume, heat and water marks. Check the label first: structured, printed or lined pieces may require professional cleaning.

The routine
Blot and shade
Roll briefly in a clean towel, then dry flat or on a padded hanger away from sun. Never wring or tumble dry.
Use the lowest setting
Iron on the reverse while barely damp, with a pressing cloth. Test steam first because droplets can mark some silks.
Between seasons
Keep it at its best.
Apply perfume and deodorant before dressing. Store away from direct light and use padded hangers for pieces that should not be folded.
